Preventing a fire door from closing by using door wedge or extinguisher can put your insurance at risk and even land you in court unless you install the Union Wireless Fire Door Holder. A popular choice for schools, hospitals and care homes, it allows for wheelchair access, ventilation, and day-to-day convenience. To hold in place, simply open the door to the floor plate and push the foot plunger down. When held open, it will automatically release and shut when the fire alarm sounds which will reduce the spread the fire and smoke, potentially saving lives and reducing damage.

Working with your existing fire alarm system without the need for any wires, the DoorSense uses acoustic technology to listen out for sounds louder than 80dB, which continue for longer than 15 seconds. Release sensitivity can be adjusted to suit the environments and features a timer to automatically release the fire door overnight.

Powered by two C alkaline batteries, included, it has a low battery indicator with a failsafe mode which automatically releases the door just in case. Suitable for use on timber fire doors and provides fire resistance up to 120 hours, the door retainer is CE Marked, tested and certified to BS EN 1155:1997, comes with a two-year manufacturer’s guarantee.

Suitable for doors up to 160kg and 1600mm wide, it retrofits over any previously-installed door release units.
