In the UK we’re used to the cold weather, and just like water does, a standard fire extinguisher is likely to freeze up when the mercury plummets. With an Antifreeze Fire Extinguisher, you can have fire protection you can rely on all year round.

If a standard fire extinguisher freezes up, it won’t discharge should you need to use it while it’s frozen, and that could leave you in a perilous situation as you wouldn’t know until you tried to use. Another issue that can come about is the internal lining of the extinguisher being damaged.

An Antifreeze Fire Extinguisher is just like a normal extinguisher, except the contents also contains an antifreeze additive. This allows it to operate in lower temperatures up to -9 degrees Celsius.

Other than the antifreeze, they work in the same way, with a water extinguisher suitable for Class A fires (wood, paper, cloth, etc), and a foam extinguisher suitable for Class A and Class B (flammable liquid) fires. Neither are safe to use on live electrics.

Being able to withstand lower temperatures means it is ideal for going outside such as at a camping site or farm. It is also a solution to maintaining fire safety in buildings without heating and insulation such as scout halls.
