9kg Powder Fire Extinguisher
Our 9kg ABC powder fire extinguisher will fight all types of fire, except flammable metals, thanks to its 34A 183B C fire rating. The ABC term means multi-purpose and you need to be careful because in these days of cost-cutting, some suppliers use BC powder to save money and that will not fight Class A (wood, paper, material) fires. Fully CE Marked, Kitemarked to BS EN3, and a 5 year warranty.
ABC powder extinguishers are suitable for fighting Class A fires, Class B fire (flammable liquids), Class C (flammable gases), and fires involving live electrical equipment. Commander extinguishers can be maintained and refilled by any qualified service company.
For Fire Regulations, you need to carry out a fire risk assessment. That assessment should tell you what the fire risks are in fire classes such as Class A, B, C, and F (there is no Class E and D covers flammable metals). Although powder fights all fires, it is not designed for offices, hotels, nursing homes, surgeries, etc.

The updated British Standard 5306-8:2012 Selection and positioning of portable fire extinguishers – Code of Practice states as follows.
"5.4.3 Use of powder extinguishers The discharge of a powder extinguisher within buildings can cause a sudden reduction of visibility and can also impair breathing, which could temporarily jeopardize escape, rescue or other emergency action. For this reason, powder extinguishers should generally not be specified for use indoors, unless mitigated by a health and safety risk assessment."
